WEST ORANGE. NJ - The Eighth Annual Francis Schott Memorial Blood Drive has been scheduled for Nov. 23 from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Shillelagh Club, 648 Prospect Avenue, West Orange. The event is once again sponsored by the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh and the Celtic Sisters.
Donors will be treated to a free Irish Breakfast, compliments of Stage Left Restaurant in New Brunswick.
Schott was the former Fire Chief of the City of Orange and his family remains involved in the local community.
Supplies of blood are critically low at this time of year. The Blood Center of New Jersey website lists the general rules which apply to giving blood:
* Donors must be in good health
* Donors must be 16 years of age or older and there are no upper age limits
* Donors should eat meals at the regular times
People can donate blood every 56 days. The Shillelagh Club allows the Blood Center to set up a donation area on the second floor and is expected to send their Mobile Unit Van so people won't be kept waiting. Last year's drive collected 120 pints of blood for the Blood Center of NJ.
