TINTON FALLS, NJ — Livingston’s Exit 6 Brobotics Alpha recently received the Excellence Award, the highest award given for VEX IQ competitions, when the team competed in the NJ State VEX IQ Robotics Championships, Elementary School Division, held at the Ranney School in Tinton Falls.
The award is presented to the team that best-exemplifies overall excellence in numerous award categories, including Engineering Notebook, STEM Research, Teamwork Challenge Performance, and Robot Skills Challenge Ranking. The team also was awarded a second-place trophy in the Teamwork Challenge.
The elementary school division of VEX IQ in NJ represents about 175 teams from across the state, with 24 qualifying for the NJ State Championships. VEX IQ competitions involve two judged sessions (Research Project, Engineering Notebook) and two robot performance categories (Driver & Programming Skills, Teamwork Challenge).
The team finished high in both judged categories, fifth in Driver & Programming skills, first in Teamwork Challenge qualification rankings and second in Teamwork Challenge Finals.
