LIVINGSTON, NJ - The Livingston Friends of the Library recently announced that the Eye Level Learning Center of Livingston and ACL Gallery (Arts Council of Livingston) has joined the Merchants & Members Program.

The Merchants & Members Program is an exclusive benefit of the Friends of the Library program whereby merchants offer discounts to Friends of the Library members. ACL Gallery offers a 15 percent discount off purchases at ACL, which are not combinable with other offers. The Eye Level Learning Center of Livingston offers a 50 percent discount off the first month’s tuition to new customers at the Center, which is also not combinable with other offers.

“The Center is honored to be part of the Program,” said Laura Lee, Director of the Eye Level Learning Center.

ACL Gallery Director and former Library Committee member Irene Feigen stated that both the ACL Gallery and the Library represent state of the art facilities. She added that, “Everything in the [ACL] Gallery is unique, different, and so, too, are the personal experiences people receive at the Library.”

Friends of the Library Membership Coordinator Barbara Bye said she believes that the Merchants & Members program is a “win-win” for both parties.

Sue Conan, Board Secretary of the Library added a similar sentiment, “[If you] use the discounts often enough, the membership pays for itself.”

Eye Level Learning and ACL Gallery join existing partners—Philly Pretzel Factory, the Boston Ice Cream Company and Jay's Shoe Box.

On another note, on April 24, The Friends of the Library will host a Tastes of The World event. Festivities will include an international buffet, wines and micro brews from around the world to taste and purchase at a discount. Experts will be on hand to discuss the wines and brews. There will also be a silent auction and a 50/50 cash raffle.

Let the Games Begin

I am truly awed by the Olympics.  Watching these superb young athletes on TV inspires me to renew my membership to the gym and pursue my lifelong dream of taking home the gold.

The problem is that in my deluded head, I can see actually see myself standing atop the podium.  I am wrapped in a puffy designer ski coat with a huge piece of bling slung around my neck ...
