OAKBROOK, ILL. ‚ McDonald’s is recalling the Step-iT activity wristband, a child’s toy that was part a recent Happy Meal promotion at the restaurants between Aug. 9 and Aug. 17, according to a notice from the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

McDonald’s has received more than 70 reports of incidents, including seven reports of blisters, after wearing the wristbands, according to the CPSC.

About 33-million wristbands were manufactured, but the company said in a press release that many of the devices were never distributed. The toy was distributed exclusively by McDonald’s.

“McDonald’s is aggressively investigating this issue and hopes to have more information in the near future,” the company stated.

According to the company, the cause of the incidents is unknown at this time.

McDonald’s is telling customers to “immediately take the wristband away from children.” It can be returned to any McDonald’s restaurant, where it will be exchanged for a replacement Happy Meal toy and the choice of either a free yogurt tube or a free bag of sliced apples.

The toy came in two styles: the “Activity Counter” and a motion-activated “Light-up Band.” The Activity Counter came in translucent plastic orange, blue or green and features a digital screen that tracks a child’s steps or other movement.

The Light-up Band came in translucent plastic red, purple, or orange and blinks light with a child’s movement.

Both styles of activity wristbands have a square face with the words “STEP-iT” printed on them and a button to depress and activate the wristband. The back of the square face contains the etched words “Made for McDonald’s.”

For more information about the recall, call the fast food chain at 800- 244-6227, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., seven days a week, or visit mcdonalds.com.

I like to think I was invited, but according to the Royal Guards and the Thames Valley Police I was not.  But more about that later.

You see, not too long ago I received an evite addressed to me from H&M@royalwedbot.co.uk.  Curiously, it was in my spam folder with a warning message. For an evite it was pretty ...
