Football: Livingston to Take On Montclair in Section 1, Group 5 Playoffs

LIVINGSTON, NJ — When the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) released its seeding for the Section 1, Group 5 football playoffs, the Livingston Lancers football team was seeded at No. 8 and will take on No. 1 Montclair in the first round on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Montclair.

Livingston head coach Robert Breschard said he is extremely proud of this team, stating that it is “a special group of kids.”

“Anytime you make it to the playoffs, there’s excitement,” he said. “This is what we do all that work for. We look forward to the challenge ahead. I can’t wait to get on the practice field to start preparing for this game.”

The NJSIAA Section 1, Group 5 seeding is as follows:

No. 1 Montclair

No. 2 Passaic Tech

No. 3 Union City

No. 4 Clifton

No. 5 Ridgewood

No. 6 North Bergen

No. 7 Bloomfield

No. 8 Livingston

Should Livingston defeat Montclair on Saturday, the Lancers will take on the winner of Friday’s matchup between Ridgewood and Clifton. The semifinal round will take place on Nov. 17, with the final round slated for Nov. 30.

Livingston ended its regular season with a victory over Bayonne, 27-26, in overtime on Friday. Read about the Lancers’ victory HERE.
