LIVINGSTON, NJ — Friends of the Livingston Library is fully restocking its Ongoing Book Sale, effective Jan.17.  On a monthly basis, Friends takes down all stock and replaces it with entirely new inventory.  This is the “Friends flip.”

Approximately 1200 items of fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, DVDs, and CDs are available. Between monthly restocks, the Ongoing Book Sale is replenished semi-weekly as stock is sold. Friends invites all in the community to come in and browse.

The Ongoing Book Sale offers two large racks of books and non-print media sorted by categories—romance, science fiction, general adult fiction, mysteries/thrillers, young adult, classics including poetry and short stories, cooking, art, science, travel, sports, self-help, hobbies/crafts, foreign language, history/culture, biography, business, humor, religion, and large print.

The Oversize Book shelf offers various genres. A third book case is devoted to children’s books and books for young readers. The sale also includes a selection of adult and children’s DVDs and CDs.

The sale is located past the Internet Café before the Program Room. Prices are: Adult hard cover: $1.00 each, Adult soft cover: $.50 each, Children’s hard cover: $.50 each, Children’s soft cover: $.25 each, DVDs: $2.00 each, other non-print media: $.25 each. Specially marked “coffee table” books are $3.00 each. “Dime” books and pamphlet booklets are $.10 each.

Friends of the Library welcomes the donation of gently used books, games, puzzles, table-top toys, CDs, DVDs, and audio books on CD all year round.  Items should be in saleable condition. Donations may be left at the Friends Desk any time the Library is open. A tax receipt is available from the Help Desk.

Friends is not able to sell, re-donate, or otherwise able to re-direct certain materials. Disposing of these items increases recycling costs and absorbs limited volunteer time so Friends hopes the public will abide by the guideline and not leave them in the donation bins.

Friends requests that people arrange for private disposal of books in poor condition, magazines, VHS tapes, cassettes, encyclopedias, text books below college level, and text books more than 10 years old.” Friends does accept college and graduate level text books that have been published within the last ten years.
