LIVINGSTON, NJ — Sanbeep Singh, a 25-year-old employee of the Raceway gas station at 266 South Orange Avenue in Livingston, was transferred to Saint Barnabas Medical Center after four black males exited a white, four-door SUV or pickup and attacked him with a baseball bat and possibly a knife, according to police.

Livingston police, who are currently investigating the incident, said the suspects took cash and a form of identification from Singh before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Singh was walking along Passaic Avenue toward Millburn after his shift when the vehicle pulled up alongside him. According to police, the first male asked about directions, stating that they were lost, before a second male approached him with the bat.

Police said Singh was hit multiple times in the back and shoulder and was also potentially cut by a knife held by one of the other men, according to a cut left on the victim’s face. Shortly after contacting the police, Singh was assisted by a good Samaritan.
