Girls Basketball: Lancers Edge Out Mount St. Dominic, 28-22


CALDWELL, NJ — Kayla Parsons was the top scorer once again on Tuesday as the Livingston girls basketball team edged out Mount St. Dominic, 28-22, to earn the second win of the season.

Adding to Parsons’ 15 points, six steals and three rebounds on Tuesday night were Kaitlyn Kelly with seven points and two rebounds, Desi Brower with four points and six rebounds and Ashley Reuter with two points, three steals and three rebounds to secure the win. The Lancers are now 2-12 on the season heading into the Essex County Tournament on Feb. 4.

When the Essex County Tournament was seeded on Monday night, the Mount took the No. 19 seed whereas the Lancers were tabbed as No. 29. The first two rounds of the tournament are scheduled for Feb. 4 and Feb. 9.

Livingston enters the tournament in an away game against No. 16 Bloomfield Tech.

Newark Tech took the top seed for the tournament, followed by University, West Orange, East Orange, Bloomfield, Montclair, Millburn, Orange, Columbia and Nutley to round out the Top 10. Semifinals will take place at Weequahic on Feb. 22 and the final will be played at Essex County College on Feb. 25.

MILLBURN, NJ - Peter Serruto, who just completed his senior season at Millburn High School, was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 22d round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft on Wednesday.

Serruto was the 649th pick overall.
