LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston girls basketball team bolted to a 14-point lead in the first quarter and went on to defeat Newark Tech, 39-22, on Thursday.

Avery McLaughlin scored 16 points for the Lancers (6-7), who opened a 16-2 lead after one quarter. Ava Intile added 11 points in the victory.

Neither team scored a single point at the foul line, but Livingston connected for 18 shots from the field, compared to only 10 for Newark Tech.
