LIVINGSTON, NJ — Saturday’s “September Smash Invitational” tournament, held annually at Livingston High School, will officially kick of the Lancers girls tennis season. The Lancers are looking forward to inviting Ridgewood, J.P Stevens and Morristown back to their courts for a rematch this weekend.

The tournament began in 2011 at the hands of head coach Elliot Lovi, who is celebrating his 45th year as the head coach for the boys tennis team and his eighth year with the girls.

Last year, the girls team started off strong by defeating Ridgewood at the September Smash Invitational. The Lancers later earned the top seed in the NJSIAA North 1, Group 4 tournament, only to be upset by Ridgewood in the finals. They finished the season with a final record of 15-6.
