LIVINGSTON, NJ – On Oct. 8, Temple Emanu-El in Livingston hosted a ‘Lunch & Learn’ event sponsored by the National Council of Jewish Women/Essex.  Guest speaker, Brina Milikowsky, who spoke about the critical issues of gun violence, drew a crowd of nearly 150 people.

Milikowsky, senior policy advisor and counsel to the NYC office of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns, encouraged attendees to talk to their congressman about legislation on criminal background checks.  She noted that 33 Americans are murdered each day in the United States and that the presence of guns in domestic disputes puts women especially at risk.

She also emphasized that criminal background checks only take a few moments to complete and that they can make a difference in saving lives from gun violence.
