Overall, out of a field of 42 teams, Heritage A was ranked at No. 5 and Heritage B was ranked at No. 9.

Two HMS team members were named “All-Star” players, including Robert Wang, who was listed as the second-best player in the tournament, and Jack Liu, who placed eighth out of 178 participants.

“Both teams showed great determination and work ethic and performed above expectations,” said Quizbowl team advisor and science teacher Breanna Willard. “I also love that they always showed good sportsmanship and represented Heritage well. It was a long day, and they worked hard until the end.”

According to the NAQT, the National Championships are currently scheduled to be held in Chicago in May.

“My hope is that they will make this tournament virtual so that our students can participate in the event they worked so hard to qualify for,” said Willard.
