LIVINGSTON, NJ - Trinity Covenant Church in Livingston has announced that the three days of Easter will begin on Thursday evening, April 2, with a dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Admission is free and the meal will be provided with free-will donations welcome to cover the cost of food. Trinity is located at 343 East Cedar St in Livingston, just off Northfield Rd. The dinner, to be held in Fellowship Hall, will include a communion service around the tables. The evening’s service will commemorate Jesus’ “last supper” with his disciples and “we leave as Christ and his disciples begin to pray in the Garden of Gethsemane,” said a representative of the church.

Trinity’s Good Friday service will pick up the story again at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 3, with a “Service of Tenebrae” (a service of darkness). “Full of emotion, it considers the crucifixion of Jesus; a service of darkness marks the loss of the “light of the world” – and what it was that he shouldered for the world that night,” said representative of the church. There will also be a children’s service at the same time in the children’s department.

On Sunday, April 5, “joy returns as the congregation celebrates with word and song the empty tomb and the resurrection of Jesus,” said representative of the church. Easter service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Children will receive an Easter gift.
