WEST ORANGE, NJ ‑ Livingston ice hockey defeated defending state champions Morristown in overtime in the second round of the NJSIAA Public A Tournament on Friday.  

Max Solomon led the fifth-seeded Lancers to a 2-1 victory with an overtime goal with only six minutes left to play. Chase Friedfertig, the highest scoring player on the team, put the team on the board in the first period and also assisted in the game-winning goal along with Minkyu Yang.

No. 12 Morristown answered back to tie the game only a minute later, but neither team was able to score in the remainder of the game.

Livingston outshot Morristown 36-15 with Morristown’s Harrison Brown making 34 saves compared to Livingston goalie Matt Delseni.

The Lancers will take on No. 13 Watchung Hills on Monday in the quarterfinals at Codey Arena at 5:30 p.m.
