HOWELL, NJ -- The Livingston ice hockey team opened its 2019-2020 season with a 3-2 victory over Manalapan on Saturday.
The Lancers scored all their goals in the first period. After Manalapan had taken a 1-0 lead, Tyler Schultz opened the Livingston scoring with an unassisted goal with 11:14 left in the opening period. A minute later, Michael Mumm scored a power play goal to extend the Lancer lead to 2-0.
Livingston's special teams came up big again with 5:31 to go in the first period when Andrew Qian took a pass from Dylan Foley and scored a shorthanded goal.
Livingston goalie Trevor Dzama faced 14 shots and saved 12 of them.
