WEST ORANGE, NJ - The International Shabbat Project is one of the most ambitious Jewish identity initiatives ever undertaken. The Project is a unique, international grassroots Jewish identity movement that unites all Jews to keep one Shabbat together. Hundreds of partners from across the world are helping to coordinate, the International Shabbos Project, taking place in October at locations in West Orange and Livingston.

The events are being presented by West Orange Encounters and the West Orange Jewish Community.

On Thursday, October 23 a Mother/Daughter Challah Baking event will be held at The Friendship Circle, 10 Microlab Road, Livingston, at 7:00 pm. The event is free.

On Friday, October 24 Congregation AABJ&D, located at 700 Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange, will hold a Candle Lighting and Shabbat Evening Prayers at 5:45 pm, followed by a dinner at 6:45 pm. The dinner is free for guests.

On Saturday, October 25, Shabbat lunches will be held at Host Family homes for those not affiliated with a synagogue. The cost is free.

On Saturday, October 25, Congregation B'nai Shalom, located at 300 Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange, will host a Family Havdalah Ceremony and Concert beginning at 7:45 pm. The event is free.
