LIVINGSTON, NJ - More than 70 women from throughout the region and beyond gathered on Sunday at the Synagogue of the Suburban Torah Center in Livingston for a cooking demonstration and talk by bestselling kosher cookbook author and media personality Jamie Geller. The pre-Passover, cooking program was co-sponsored by Congregation Etz Chaim and Suburban Torah, both in Livingston.

Geller, a former CNN and HBO producer, said she began her cooking career seven years ago when she wrote her first book, "Quick & Kosher: The Bride Who Knew Nothing." She followed it up with two more books, a popular cooking website and a magazine called "Joy of Kosher."

Attendees sampled some of Geller’s fare including a fried pastrami salad with creamy dressing, short ribs and chocolate mousse.

Since the program was held only a few weeks before Passover, and because as Geller said everyone has “Pesach on the brain,” she also offered tips on how to convert recipes attendees like all year round to be served during the holiday.
