LHS Academic Team Triumphs at Quiz Bowl; Qualifies for National Tournament

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston High School’s Academic Team triumphed at the Princeton Invitational Quiz Bowl tournament this past Saturday, March 3. The “A team” of juniors Jonathan Ackerman and Isabella Tang, and seniors Carrie Li and Ben Litvin, defeated East Brunswick High School, 395-295, in the final.

Ackerman was the highest individual scorer of the day, and the team qualified for the national tournament in the process.

In addition, the “B Team” consisting of freshmen Carolyn Meng and Rosa Xia, and junior Jennifer Zheng finished fourth overall, losing the third-place game on the final question of the final game. Meng was the second-highest scorer of the morning, only trailing Ackerman.

The LHS Academic Team will be hosting its annual March Madness tournament at LHS on Saturday, March 17, where 48 of the best teams in the NJ/NY and PA area will be competing—the largest field on the East coast.

MILLBURN, NJ - Peter Serruto, who just completed his senior season at Millburn High School, was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 22d round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft on Wednesday.
