LIVINGSTON, NJ — After being the first New Jersey municipality to celebrate Women Veterans Appreciation Day in 2019, the Township of Livingston recently celebrated the holiday for the second consecutive year through a virtual ceremony produced by members of the Livingston Committee for Diversity and Inclusion (LDCI).

“Thanks to LCDI member Ava Reinfeld, who proposed the idea to celebrate initially, [the inaugural event] was just wonderful,” said LCDI chair Billy Fine. “Getting to continue spreading the importance of this holiday again exceeded those feelings of success. While we kept our commemoration to a virtual setting this year, the impact of the words said will hopefully enlighten many.”

The LCDI expressed gratitude toward Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill for hosting a question-and-answer session as a woman veteran herself, Air Force R.O.T.C. Cadet Major Macen Lantzman for returning this year to ask the committee’s questions and Mayor Rudy Fernandez along with the entire Livingston Township Council for “supporting another year of celebrating the life and legacy of [Livingston’s] women veterans.”
