LIVINGSTON, NJ — After reviewing the proposed signs that the Saint Barnabas Medical Center (SBMC) would like to put both inside and outside the new Madonna Field, the Livingston Township Council agreed to provide SBMC with publicity opportunities as part of recognizing its $1.3 million gift to help create this state-of-the-art turf field.
Councilman Rudy Fernandez said he thought that the township had agreed to allow SBMC one large sign at the field, but that it is now asking for signs outside the field as well.
Deputy Mayor Ed Meinhardt said he had heard the same thing from the mayor, but that further discussions should take place with SBMC, which “gave a lot of money for signage.”
Russ Jones, immediate past acting township manager, said that whatever outside signage is agreed upon should be high enough and visible enough to help out-of-town teams find the field.
Meinhart agreed that this was an excellent idea, and that the Livingston Traffic Division should decide on sign placement that will help visiting teams easily find Madonna Field.
