EAST HANOVER, NJ - On a murky Monday afternoon, Livingston's bowling team won all three games at the Hanover Lanes against Millburn, bowling 1135 to 829, 995 to 743, and 1005 to 807.
Livingston scored seven points on Monday afternoon for a total of 73 points so far this year. The Lancers gave up only four points.
After Monday's match, Millburn fell to a points record of 16-61.
Livingston's Mike Helderman, Brandon Gershon, Scott Hochberg, and Evan Gutantag set a new school and league single game team record in the first game, scoring a 1135. Livingston also broke the previous Livingston School record team series of 3102 with a 3135.
The high score of the entire match came from Livingston's Mike Helderman who scored a 223 in the first game, a 194 in the second game, and came back strong in the third game with a 268 for a series of 685. "I was well rested and ready for this match. I was hitting my mark well and I felt really good today," Helderman said.
As for Millburn, Sebastian Schmidt rolled the high score for his team with a 211 in the first game, a 189 in the second game, and a 168 in the third game for a series of 568. "Today was definitely my best game of my bowling career. I'm proud that I was able to bowl two clean games," Schmidt said.
Livingston's Coach Griff Hughes was very proud of his team because of their multiple new records and their strong team effort. "This was the second time the team broke the team series record in the same year, and it might be because they are possibly the best team I've ever had," Hughes said. Millburn's coach concluded, "We always bowl well against Livingston, despite the loss."
Livingston's next match is on Thursday against Seton Hall Prep at the Hanover Lanes. Millburn's next match is also on Thursday against Caldwell High School at the Hanover Lanes.
