LIVINGSTON, NJ — Local youth will have the opportunity to be sprayed again this year by the nozzle of Livingston Fire Department’s ladder truck, which will once again make an appearance at Livingston’s National Night Out on Aug. 1. Members of the fire department, who have been a large part of the annual event since its inception, will also be manning the grills cooking hot dogs.

National Night Out festivities are held nationwide and are meant to increase awareness about police anti-crime programs that are taking place in communities. This event promotes various crime prevention programs including: neighborhood watch groups; residential and business security surveys; and crime prevention tips.

Last year, more than 37-million people in all 50 states, as well as U.S. territories, Canada and military bases worldwide, participated in the annual event.
