Livingston Forensic Speech and Debate Team Wins Nine Awards and a Team Sweepstakes Trophy

Livingston High School Forensic Speech and Debate Team, coached by Dr. Michael Sunga and Alex Lamon, brings awards home from Newark CFL tournament at Ridge High School Credits: Livingston Public School

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Twenty members of the Livingston High School speech and debate team took home individual awards, and the team as a whole earned a team sweepstakes trophy, at the Newark CFL tournament last week.

The team, coached by Dr. Michael Sunga and Alex Lamon, competed in the Newark CFL tournament at Ridge High School. The Lancers came away with nine awards, including the fifth-place team sweepstakes troph.

Nicole Rong, first place in junior varsity (JV) Oral Interpretation of Literature;

Karen Hu, fifth place in varsity Oral Interpretation of Literature;

Adam Clarke and Brian Janay, second place in JV Public Forum Debate;

Aiara Chakraborty and Cindy Liang, fifth place in JV Public Forum Debate;

Kenneth Ding, third place in JV Lincoln-Douglas Debate;

Gene Lu, quarterfinalist in varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate; and

Anna Xia, seventh place in Declamation.
