LIVINGSTON, NJ - The Lancers shut out their rivals from Millburn, 2-0, under the lights on their home turf at Livingston High School on Monday night. The victory evened the season series between the teams and gave the Lancers their 11th victory of the year.

Allie Beinhacker and Jordy Bonvini led the team with one goal apiece.

“It was really a tough one, a lot of emotion,” said Head Coach Raiz. “That’s a good team. Millburn is physical, but we had a solid defense and our goalie played well.”

The ball was continuously passed between sides during the game. Each team had many shot attempts, but Livingston was the only team to make it count.

Not only was this a rivalry game but it was also Senior Night for Livingston. Regarding his seniors, Raiz added,  “They may not be big in numbers this year, there’s only five of them.  We have had bigger numbers in the past but they are a dedicated group, great people on and off the field, great students and we are going to miss them. We still have them for a few more weeks so hopefully we will keep playing.”

The Livingston seniors include Samantha Rothenberger, Alyssa Egner, Jordy Bonvini, Erica Dippold, and Kylie McLaughlin

Livingston will face West Orange in a makeup game at home on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Millburn will face Verona on Oct. 25 at home.

Let the Games Begin

I am truly awed by the Olympics.  Watching these superb young athletes on TV inspires me to renew my membership to the gym and pursue my lifelong dream of taking home the gold.

The problem is that in my deluded head, I can see actually see myself standing atop the podium.  I am wrapped in a puffy designer ski coat with a huge piece of bling slung around my neck ...
