LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston girls Volleyball team advanced to the Group 4 sectional finals on Tuesday by defeating Cherry Hill East (CHE) by a 2-0 match score. The fifth-seeded Lancers travelled the Turnpike to play fourth-seeded CHE by scores of 25-18 and 25-21.
According to Lancers head coach Al Partelow, it was strong serving that constantly put the Cherry Hill girls on their heels.
The Lancers had a combined 10 aces, with seniors Rachel Cherny and Gayle Edelstein and juniors Sophie Kushner and Kassandra “Kassie” Thomas leading the charge.
Senior setter Edelstein delivered 19 assists while senior middle Victoria “Tory” Fogg led with 7 kills. Senior outside Cherny and junior outside Thomas also had 5 kills apiece along with two from Edelstein. Senior opposite Desere “Desi” Brower added 1 kill to make up the attack. Junior Alice Ng anchored the defense.
The Lancers will play in the section final at Bridgewater-Raritan on Thursday at 12 p.m. The winner will play in the Group 4 finals on Saturday at William Patterson University.
