LIVINGSTON, NJ - On Tuesday, the Livingston High School Guidance Department hosted an event called, “The College Application Process,” at LHS for the Class of 2016.

Various presentations run by two to three LHS Guidance Counselors were given to groups in different locations throughout the school including the auditorium and cafeteria. Students and their families attended presentations based on their particular guidance counselor.

“The College Application Process” addressed the many steps to applying to college including the issues of application deadlines, types of applications (Early Action, Early Decision, Rolling, etc.), how to request letters of recommendation from a teacher, and how to use various online tools when applying to college, such as: “Naviance” and “The Common App.”

Loraine Morgenroth, a guidance counselor at LHS and presenter at the event, said, “I love that the program is run by multiple guidance counselors. It really gives students and parents a chance to hear multiple perspectives on any given topic.”

She added, “I also love that students and parents can use this as an opportunity to ask [the Guidance Department at LHS] any questions that they may have, because throughout the daunting process of applying to college, communication is key.”
