Livingston High School Updates

LIVINGSTON, NJ – On Friday, Livingston Public Schools (LPS) sent out an update regarding upcoming events and programs available to LPS students. Below are some important updates.

New Online Sports Forms Available

New online forms for athletics in the Livingston Public Schools debuted this month. The online forms simplify the process for enrolling student athletes in interscholastic, intramural sport, and club/dance programs.

The athletic forms are available on the LPS website by clicking on the Genesis Parent Access Portal to enroll in sports programs at LHS, Heritage and Mt. Pleasant Middle School.

Registration for the three athletic seasons, fall, winter and spring, must be done during the enrollment periods. For example, registration is now open for the fall LHS season and runs until Aug. 1.

Parents should log into their account to access the registration forms. A hard copy of the physicians/medical form must still be submitted to the school nurse during the enrollment period to complete the registration. These forms are posted on the LPS websites.

“Electronic enrollment has enormous benefits for our athletic program and our parents,” said Patrick Genova Athletic Director. “No more copies of the permission cards, emergency forms, steroid, Impact, concussion, cardiac or SAGE forms needed to be downloaded, completed and submitted to the high school nurse. This should save everyone a lot of time.”

Project Runway

Student athletes will model the top fashion trends on the LHS runway when the Big L presents Lancers on Parade beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13 at Livingston High School. Many Livingston businesses and merchants support this fun event, which includes a Tricky Tray and Taste of Livingston. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under. The Big L Club was formed 50 years ago and has served as the official booster and support group for all Livingston High School athletes and teams.

Life Savers

The CPR skills of more than 400 high school juniors at LHS were tested on Tuesday, May 6, by health education teachers Nancy Ooms, Tamara Floruss, Paul Cirlincione and Mike Munley, along with LHS nurse Carolyn Ross and Andy Krupa, Supervisor of health and physical education. The students received six weeks of in safety skills and first aid training, and about half choose to pay the fee for Red Cross certification. “The unit helps students with babysitting and camp counseling jobs,” Krupa said, “and for some it is a springboard to professional rescue training.”

Next BOE Meeting

The Livingston Board of Education will meet 7 p.m. Monday, May 12 at Heritage Middle School. This is a voting meeting. See the agenda by clicking HERE.

Subscription busing is available on a lottery basis for LPS students who are not eligible for free busing. Applications are due June 30. Click HERE for the application.

Extra Time

It was close to 70 minutes into the match and I had to go to the bathroom.  Badly.

As fans watching the World Cup know too well, bathroom breaks are a serious dilemma, especially for those who don’t have a TV in the loo.  This biological necessity is exasperated by beer, which during World Cup matches also fuels a strong propensity to throw chairs and instigate riots.
