LIVINGSTON, NJ — There has been a data security issue involving customer payment card data at certain Lord & Taylor stores in North America, parent company Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) announced on Sunday.

A spokesperson for HBC stated that the company cannot yet confirm whether customers at the Livingston location were affected, as the data breach is still under investigation. Certain Saks Fifth Avenue and Saks OFF 5TH stores were also affected, according to HBC.

"We deeply regret any inconvenience or concern this may causer,” Lord & Taylor said on its website on Monday. “We wanted to reach out to our customers quickly to assure them that they will not be liable for fraudulent charges that may result from this matte. We have identified the issue, and have taken steps to contain it.

"Once we have more clarity around the facts, we will notify our customers quickly and will offer those impacted free identity protection services, including credit and web monitoring. We encourage our customers to review their account statements and contact their card issuers immediately if they identify activity or transactions they do not recognize.”
