LIVINGSTON, NJ - Livingston residents and brothers Brian and Jason Wong have opened a new business called Bubble Tea Brothers, introducing the community to a new beverage.

While studying at Binghamton University and Georgetown Law, Brian Wong worked at a shop, gaining the experience on making bubble tea, a Taiwanese beverage that contains a tea base mixed with fruit and/or milk. At the same time, Jason Wong had discovered property for sale on South Livingston Avenue. The idea for the shop had been their intention since attending Livingston High School.

Both brothers have been balancing other work along with their bubble tea selling. Brian recently graduated with a juris doctorate in law, and Jason, also a student of Binghamton, is still attending classes to receive his masters in accounting.

Despite the extra work, however, the brothers are happy for their new business.

“I love it,” Brian said. “It’s a challenge owning your own business, but I love working and talking with people. Bubble tea is something that it makes people happy in the morning.” The brothers offer free samples to new customers.

Bubble tea is a flavored tea drink, served either hot or cold, that can have tapioca or flavored jellies on the bottom. Bubble tea can be sweet and fruity, warm and creamy, or even light and refreshing. The "bubbles" are marble-sized, sweet, and chewy.

Though the shop has recently begun, business is good for the Wong brothers. The town raves about their new drinks and they continue to sell bubble tea, along with slushies and milkshakes. One new customer has commented on their Facebook page, calling their taro almond flavor bubble tea as her “new obsession.” There are nineteen other flavors available.

Bubble Tea Brothers is located at 498 South Livingston Ave in Livingston. Hours are Sunday through Thursday 10:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Friday - Saturday 10:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Extra Time

It was close to 70 minutes into the match and I had to go to the bathroom.  Badly.

As fans watching the World Cup know too well, bathroom breaks are a serious dilemma, especially for those who don’t have a TV in the loo.  This biological necessity is exasperated by beer, which during World Cup matches also fuels a strong propensity to throw chairs and instigate riots.
