LIVINGSTON, NJ — Parents with college-bound students are invited to participate in a college discussion on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Livingston Senior and Community Center, hosted by the Livingston Vision 20/20 Committee.

“The whole college process can sometimes feel overwhelming,” said Cheryl Gottlieb Boxer, one of the event organizers. “Many might ask themselves, ‘Where do I even begin?' Forums like this are a perfect introduction to learn from others in a relaxed group discussion.”

Experienced parents, who have been through the college admissions process, will lead the discussion and share their insights. Topics at the “Journey to College” forum will include: finding the right-fit colleges, filling out college applications, and paying for college.

Tips on college-essay writing, interviewing, using a test prep tutor or college coach and working with high school guidance counselors and college admissions officers will also be offered.

“What better than learning the dos and don’ts of the college admission process from other knowledgeable parents?” said Saba Khan, co-organizer of the forum. “Happy to share and learn.”

The event is open to all parents and students interested in learning about the college application process.

“This will be a great way for parents to share ‘college knowledge’ with one another and with students applying to college,” said Mike Ramer, education chair of the Vision 20/20. “Many valuable tips to discuss.”
