LIVINGSTON, NJ — The special meeting previously scheduled for April 4, 2016 to discuss the rezoning of the D-S Zone to permit construction of a hotel has been postponed, with a new date to be determined.
Livingston residents in the Coventry and Regency Club areas are openly outraged about a proposed ordinance to create new permitted uses in the D-S District in Livingston, which would specifically allow a four-story hotel to be built in an excess parking area of the Livingston Mall.
An open-forum-structured township council meeting on March 14 attracted comments both for and against the proposed ordinance, which was proposed to the council by a private party and which the council unanimously agreed not to vote on until all voices are heard.

In order to invite additional comments from the community, a second forum dedicated to the issue will be held at Town Hall in the coming weeks. Residents are encouraged to discuss the issue with neighbors and friends and bring any comments, concerns, suggestions and questions to the to-be-determined open forum. The formal public meeting on the subject will continue on April 25.
