Livingston Weekly Court News, March 23 - March 31


LIVINGSTON, NJ – The Livingston Municipal Court settled two cases, for the week of March 23 through March 31.

Scott Stevens of Livingston was charged with careless driving and harassment for nearly hitting a female pedestrian with his car and then cursing at her out of his window.

For the charge of harassment, Stevens plead guilty to an amended charge of creating a disturbance and received a $200 fine and $33 in court cost fees.

For the charge of careless driving, he received a $61 fine and $24 in court cost fees from the violations bureau.


Micheal Obrien of Roseland was charged with DWI, careless driving, driving an unregistered vehicle, failure to exhibit an insurance card, two counts of revoked driving--the second coming from a previous DWI, and failure to change his address.

Obrien plead guilty to the charges of DWI, revoked driving for DWI, and driving while suspended for DWI. 

For DWI, he received a 10-year license revocation, a 180-day term at the Essex County Correctional Facility and fines of $1006, $33 in court cost fees, $50 to the Victim of Crime Compensation Fund, $75 to the State Neighborhood Fund and a $200 DWI surcharge fee.

For driving while suspended, he received a 30-month license revocation, a 30-month registration revocation and a 90-day jail term, all of which will run concurrent to the previously charged sentences. He must also pay additional fines of $1506 and $33 in court cost fees.

Following the revocation of his license, Obrien must use an interlock device, which is a breathalyzer car starter, for three years.

Obrien has reportedly been previously charged with five counts of DWI and 16 counts of driving while suspended.
