LIVINGSTON, NJ - The Livingston Police Department will hold the community’s sixth National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at the Memorial Oval located in front of the High School. The annual event begins at 5:30 p.m., and will offer participants food and soft drinks, rides, face painting, balloons and carnival games for children, giveaways, live bands, a DJ, law enforcement displays, safety/security demonstrations and anti-drug activities - all free of charge.

National Night Out events take place all over the nation and are meant to increase awareness about police anti-crime programs that are taking place in communities.  Last year, over 37 million people in all 50 states, as well as U.S. territories, Canada and military bases worldwide participated at a locally hosted event.

To help kick off the 2014 National Night Out, the Livingston Police Department is inviting the children of Livingston to design a National Night Out poster. Prizes will be awarded for the best posters in each of the following categories:  ages 5-7, ages 8-10, ages 11-13 and ages 14-16.  All winning posters will be displayed at National Night Out.  For more information and rules, visit
