The work will involve a complete Bridge Deck removal and replacement. The entire project could last 1 to 2 years; however the DOT expects it to be substantially completed by approximately November 2014 to December 2014.
Bridge reconstruction is planned in two primary stages:
First Stage: Eastbound traffic will be diverted to River Road and onto Old Mt. Pleasant Avenue during construction. Westbound lanes will remain open until the eastbound bridge deck is completed.
Second Stage: Eastbound trucks only, on Route 10, will be detoured via South Ridgedale/Columbia Turnpike—South Orange Avenue, North on Eisenhower Parkway, and back to Route 10.
NOTE: Two westbound travel lanes will remain open to car traffic throughout the entire construction period.
Detours and temporary traffic signals will be used whenever needed throughout the course of the construction.
Drivers are asked to please plan an alternate route during construction.
