NEWARK, NJ - Meeting Emergency Needs with Dignity, Inc. (MEND), the oldest and largest interfaith anti-hunger coalition of food pantries in Essex County, is celebrating its 35th Anniversary by honoring Congressman, Donald M. Payne, Jr. Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of Newark, and WhyHunger for their invaluable support, and will also be recognizing the 18 interfaith food pantries within its network at a cocktail dinner reception on Thursday, March 12, at 6:00 p.m., at The Newark Club, which is located at 1085 Raymond Blvd. Tickets are $125.00 per person. Since 1980, more than 1.5 million Essex County neighbors have passed through MEND’s doors to obtain non-perishable and perishable items to feed their families. In 2014, MEND pantries served 95,000 individuals, and this number continues to increase.
