Montclair State Students Volunteer at West Essex YMCA

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Twenty students from Montclair State University participated in a “day of service” on Saturday at the West Essex YMCA, where they spent the afternoon building a new fence for the Y and also painting an older one.

According to Cheryl Francione, associate executive director at the Y, the students worked extremely well together despite the fact that many of them had never interacted before.

“We were delighted to have the group with us,” she said. “They were eager to learn, and exemplified the power of teamwork, in building a stronger community. They knocked out the project work so quickly and cohesively.”

Francione added that many of the students expressed interest in returning to the Y again in the fall to volunteer on other projects.

Whether it’s project work on the YMCA grounds, or working together out in the community, Francione said there are unlimited opportunities to volunteer through the YMCA.

Any groups interested in conducting a community service project should contact Cheryl Francione at cfrancione@metroymcas.org.

U.S. Air Traffic Control Isn’t Working; Here's How to Fix it

September 12, 2017

For over 30 years the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has tried – and failed –to modernize America’s woefully dysfunctional air traffic control system (ATC). It is time to get ATC out from under the thumbs of federal bureaucrats and partisan politicians, and create a completely new structure that will get U.S. air traffic moving.

American ATC is stuck in the 1950s.

I am worried that my genetic Neanderthal variant might be embarrassingly high.

Given my personality, this might not seem an unreasonable fear.  But I really don’t want it proven without a doubt by a rigorous analysis of my DNA.  That is why I am reluctant to subject myself to the many personal genetic testing services that are on the market today.
