LONG VALLEY, NJ — Those with children entering Pre-K or Kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year who are thinking about day camp options for next summer are invited to attend “Rookie Day” at Meadowbrook Country Day Camp, on Monday, Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Rookie Day will feature arts & crafts, athletics, cold cooking and lunch (a hot dog, hamburger and veggie burger BBQ will be served). Each “Rookie Day” camper must be accompanied by an adult.

“Seeing camp during the summer is a perfect way to get a feel for how special a camp Meadowbrook is,” said Camp Owner Mason Goldberg. “The Rookie Day Event enables existing campers and prospective campers to spend some time together enjoying camp and making memories.”

Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis by calling (908) 876-3429, and those who cannot attend are encouraged to call to schedule a tour of camp while it is in session or on a weekend. The camp is located at 73 East Valley Brook Road, in Long Valley.

Meadowbrook Country Day Camp is an American Camp Association (ACA)-accredited day located on 50 acres in Long Valley, just outside of Chester. Meadowbrook’s traditional day-camp program services children ages 3 to 14.

The camp boats a lush 50-acre wooded campus; mature/professional staff; door-to-door transportation using only air conditioned mini-buses; a unique focus on building life skills; a Red Cross swim program in heated pools, kid-friendly, healthy lunches served every day; boating; mountain biking; sports, ropes courses; and weekly themed special events at camp and on buses.

One thing that makes Meadowbrook unique is that all tips are included in tuition and there are no extra costs later on.

Activities include: swim instruction based on the Red Cross Skill Levels and free swim in a 9,000-square-foot pool complex with three heated pools; archery; tennis; basketball; softball; soccer; hockey; cooking; dance; lacrosse; flag football; nature; fishing; Newcomb; challenge courses; canoeing, kayaking, paddle boats and bumper boats on a private lake; gymnastics; various arts and crafts; special events; and more.

There are also some unique activities like mountain bikes and boards; Ultimate Frisbee; Tapu-aie; GaGa; handball; speedball; Chocolate; arcade; bonfire cooking; Earth Wind & Fire; rocketry; and more. New additions this season include a Ninja Warrior Course and Archery Tag.

In addition, Meadowbrook offers travel camps for children going into grades 7-9, comprising days spent at camp mixed with day trips to places like Dutch Springs Waterpark, Coastal Sports, The Game Vault, Camel Beach, Mountain Creek, Six Flags Great Adventure, Combat Sports, Yestercades, Laser One, Aspen Ice, Rock Quarry Swim Club, Combat Sports, Medieval Times, The Gravity Vault, Broadway Shows, Circle Lanes and more, as well as community service day trips and overnights.
