NJSIAA issues updated schedules for fall season, high school championship events

The NJSIAA (New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association) has issued an updated listing of dates for fall season high school championship events and tournaments, as revised due to last week's storm.

Sports for which new schedules have been established are field hockey, football, gymnastics, soccer, and volleyball. A revised schedule for cross country competition remains pending.

The NJSIAA's primary focus in adjusting its event schedules is on the safety of its student-athletes, coaches, and fans. Athletic directors at all high schools involved in the rescheduling will be notified of specifics by the NJSIAA.

The new schedules are as follows:

Field Hockey

§ Quarterfinals by 11/10

§ Semifinals 11/12

§ Sectional finals 11/14

§ State semifinals (at Turf Fields) 11/16

§ Group Finals (at The College of New Jersey) 11/18

§ The 2012 Tournament of Champions has been cancelled


§ Seeding 11/11

§ 1st round and consolation games 11/16 and 11/17

§ 2nd rounds 11/30 and 12/1

§ Finals 12/7 and 12/8


§ Sectionals (at Bishop Ahr High School and Manalapan High School)

§ Non-public girls finals (at The College of New Jersey) 11/28 (B at 5:30 p.m.; A at 8 p.m.)

§ Public boys finals (at The College of New Jersey) 12/1 (Group I at 10 a.m.; Group II at 12:30 p.m.; Group III at 3 p.m.; Group IV at 5:30 p.m.)

§ Public girls finals (at The College of New Jersey) 12/2 (Group I at 10 a.m.; Group II at 12:30 p.m.; Group III at 3 p.m.; Group IV at 5:30 p.m.)

§ The Tournament of Champions is tentatively scheduled for 11/18 at William Paterson University. Final confirmation is now pending, and if the university is available, the semifinals will be held during the morning, and the final will be held in the afternoon.

About the NJSIAA

Established in 1918, the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletics Association (NJSIAA) is a voluntary, non-profit organization comprised of 433 accredited public, private, and parochial high schools. A member of the National Federation of State High School Associations, the NJSIAA conducts tournaments and crowns champions in 32 sports. Championship competition for girls is sponsored in basketball, bowling, cross country, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, outdoor track, winter track, and volleyball. Boys' championships are determined in baseball, basketball, bowling, cross country, fencing, football, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, tennis, outdoor track, winter track, volleyball, and wrestling.
