MONTCLAIR, NJ — A 73-year-old Montclair woman was fatally injured after being struck by a Ford Focus on Thursday night, police officials confirmed.

Lt. David O'Dowd of the Montclair Police Department has confirmed that the pedestrian was fatally hit by a motor vehicle around 9:14 p.m. on Grove Street in Montclair.

"The pedestrian, a 73-year-old Montclair woman, was crossing Grove Street at the intersection of Chester Road when struck by a Ford Focus traveling northbound on Grove Street," he said.

He added that the driver of the vehicle was a 60-year-old female from Bloomfield, who remained at the scene.

The pedestrian was transported to Mountainside Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, according to police.

This incident is still under investigation.
