LIVINGSTON, NJ - On Tuesday May 6, the JCC Metrowest honored Ruth and Marty Barber and Neeli and Michael Margolis during the “From Generation to Generation” L’Dor V’Dor Gala. An elaborate cocktail and dessert reception at the Crystal Plaza was held in their honor.

The event kicked off with welcoming comments by Joyce Goldstein and Ken Baris. Carol Berman, Samara Grossman and the JCC Theater Kids also sung the National Anthem.

The night went on with an invocation by Rabbi Spector and a presentation by Rabbi Solomon. In  addition to the food, the guests were treated to video presentations offering unscripted personal accounts of the impact their involvement at the JCC has had in helping enrich their lives

After the dessert was eaten and honorees were celebrated, there was a wrap up and “thank you” from Ken Baris, and the night came to a close.

In total, the event raised more than $300,000 to help support the myriad Jewish engagement, education, social service, cultural and arts, wellness and recreation programs and services the JCC offers constituencies throughout our community.

L’Dor V’Dor, the passing of leadership from one generation to the next, was held because of the JCC’s role in “every stage of life from early childhood through senior adulthood.” Every year, thousands participate in JCC  programs, including; early childhood, programs for senior adults and special needs individuals, summer camps, sports, recreation, community events, Jewish education, and theater.

“It is an honor to be the JCC Gala honorees. I have rarely turned down an opportunity to serve the community, and I hope to be able to continue the rest of my life.” said Martin Barber.

The Barbers and Margolises were honored for touching so many lives through their leadership and dedicated commitment service to JCC MetroWest.

Ruth and Marty Barber have been strong members of the community, holding leadership positions in community agencies as well as the JCC. Marty Barber serves as Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the JCC and Vice President of the Jewish Community Housing Corporation Board. Ruth is on the Board of Women’s Philanthropy and is a member of the Israel Program Center Committee.

Neeli and Michael Margolis, both JCC Board members, have already distinguished themselves as members of the next generation of JCC leaders. Michael Margolis has served on the JCC Board since 2012. Neeli has served on the JCC Board since 2010 and currently serves on the Executive Board of the Agency. She was also the first organizer and Chairperson for JCC MetroWest's Annual Toast of the Town fundraiser
