Seahawks' Michael Bennett Speaks and Dines in Livingston Prior to Super Bowl Win

LIVINGSTON, NJ - Just three days before Super Bowl XLVIII staring two football powerhouses—Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos, boasting the top-ranked defense against the top-ranked offense, respectively, Eastman Management Corp., in conjunction with The Garibaldi Group, invited star defensive lineman Michael Bennett to dine at their premier Class-A building, Eisenhower Corporate Campus, located at the Livingston Circle.

After a tailgate-style dinner, an event was kicked off when Alan Sobel, the Managing Partner of Sobel & Co., a Livingston-based accounting firm, introduced Bennett and gave the audience a brief background. The introduction segued into a question and answer session in which members of the audience were able to text their questions and have them answered by Bennett.

Bennett is a defensive lineman for the Seahawks. After the Feb. 2, Seahawks' Super Bowl XLVIII victory over the Denver Broncos, 43-8, at MetLife Stadium, Bennet has been quoted as saying the Seahawks’ defense is the "best ever.”

In 2013, Bennett was signed by the Seahawks on a low-cost, one-year contract last offseason, which was reportedly worth $4.8 million, with $1.5 million guaranteed. This happened after word broke of a significant shoulder injury for which he did not have surgery. He missed spring workouts, but played in all 16 games and racked up 8.5 sacks and 31 tackles.

Proving to be one of the better pass rushers in the NFC, and the key pass rusher for the Seahawks, the 28-year-old, 6 foot 4 inch, 274-pound, defensive tackle, #72, is now set to be one of the top free agents on the market.

On Feb. 3, it was reported in many media outlets that the Seahawks would like to re-sign him, and that he will be commanding significantly more than $5 million to either resign or be drafted to another team.

According to Michael Schofel, a partner at Eastman Companies, who is President of the Eastman Construction Company, “The audience was so enthusiastic, and Michael was so responsive and informative—that the questions just kept coming.”

He added, “It was a real treat for the audience at the Eisenhower Campus and Conference Center to hear about Bennett’s history in the NFL, as this is his second stint with the Seahawks. Michael told the audience of children and adults that he is so thankful for where he is and for being one of the few members of the NFL that also has a brother [Martellus Demond Bennett who plays for the Chicago Bears] in the league. He also told the children that he is lucky he was able to work hard in school so that he now has skills and options when his days of being an NFL player are over.“

Don’t Complain; Vote!

In November, 11th District residents will have the opportunity to choose a new congressional representative who will not only serve as a critical check on the federal level, but also determine how our distract fares ...

Cluelessly Clueless

I teenaged my way through high school under the assumption that my parents had no idea what I was doing.  I like to think I was pretty good at withholding information and presenting situations in ways that were other than they really were.

Still, sometimes they found things out.  Like the time my friends plopped me on our front door step at one o'clock in the morning ...
