Seton Hall Prep Boys Soccer Blanks Livingston, 3-0

LIVINGSTON, NJ – Seton Hall Prep junior forward Mike Hall scored two goals to lead the Pirates to a 3-0 boys soccer victory over Livingston on Thursday.

Hall scored in the opening minutes of both halves, sending the No. 2 team in the state to their second straight win over Livingston this season.

“It's huge,” Seton Hall Prep head coach Marty Berman said of Hall’s early goal. “It dictates the whole tone of the game. Once you score, the other team can’t sit in. They have to come out and attack more and open things up. You get a goal and it takes the pressure off you, you can settle in and relax more.”

Before the teams could even settle into the first half, Hall found the back of the net in the game’s sixth minute off a feed from Livingston native Anthony Carracino.

The Lancers held their own for the remainder of the half until Carter Spryka scored in the 36th minute to put the Pirates up two at the half.

After the break, Hall wasted no time finding his second tally of the match. Set up by passes from Spryka and Xander Saling, Hall ripped the ball from 18-yards out into the upper right corner of the net giving SHP a 3-0 advantage.

From that point, the Pirates cruised to their 12th win of the season.

“There were good passes from my teammates,” Hall said. “They set me up pretty well. It made it easy for me.”

Connor Hagan, Bobby Schneiderman and Connor Mieth each saw time in goal for Seton Hall Prep, making a combined five saves.

Livingston’s Garrett Meinhardt made six saves on nine shots, before giving way to Chris Raite who made one stop in the final 10 minutes.

“[Seton Hall Prep] play the game the right way,” Livingston head coach Roger Rubinetti said. “They’re a top-tiered team. We’ll certainly use this game and take the video to implement things for Saturday. Obviously we’re upset with the end result, but that’s what happens when you step on the field.”

Both teams are back in action on Saturday for the first round of the 40th Essex County Tournament. Seton Hall Prep gets a visit from Columbia at 4 p.m., while Livingston hosts Orange at 7 p.m.
