EAST ORANGE, NJ - Livingston High standout Mark Silvestri, a Lancer wide receiver who is headed for the University of Rhode Island, has been tapped to play in the 22nd Annual Paul Robeson High School All-Star Football Classic (PRC), an event which is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff on June 9, at Robeson Stadium in East Orange.
"Mark was certainly an outstanding choice to represent Livingston HS in the game and we are all extremely proud of him and wish him well in the Robeson Classic and at URI," said Livingston's Director of Athletics Patrick J. Genova.
The PRC is an East vs. West all-star skirmish, which pits an East contingent of players from Essex County and the southeastern/urban Passaic County area against a West squad of players from the rest of Passaic, along with Morris, Sussex and parts of Warren.
The PRC is named after the legendary Paul Robeson, a Princeton-born, Rutgers College valedictorian and All-America gridder who went on to become a Columbia Law School grad, an NFL standout, a world-renowned multiple-sport athlete and opera singer and actor, as well as a prominent civil rights leader.
James Caldwell High coach Ken Trimmer is the East's GM and the only grid mentor who has been involved in all 21 previous Robeson tussles. West Orange Head Coach Jim Matsakis is one of the game's administrators.
