Recently the Social Action Committee of Temple B’nai Abraham ran a shoe drive for the Sole 4Souls organization.  Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and from individual donors. The charity distributes these shoes to people in need worldwide, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away nearly 12 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes (currently donating one pair every 7 seconds).
Louis Greenspan from the Social Action Committee chaired this effort for the temple. B’nai Abraham members donated over160 pairs of shoes.  The TBA Religious School Hey class, after listening last month to Louis explain the mission of Soles 4 Souls, helped with the donations of shoes and voted to give $50 of the Religious School’s collected tzedaka funds to pay for the shipping costs of the donated shoes.  Hey students who volunteered to prepare the shoes for boxing and shipping, shown with Mr. Greenspan, are l-r Hey Class students Joshua Aronow, Jack Spiegler, Samantha Gold and Lauren Weiner.
