LIVINGSTON, NJ – Girls on the Run (GOTR) New Jersey East will serve girls at several school and park-based sites across Essex County this fall, including the Memorial Oval in Livingston.
GOTR Livingston is open to girls in grades 3-5 and will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays from 3:45 p.m. to 5 p.m.
GOTR is a non-profit, physical activity-based positive youth development program that helps each girl to realize her potential. Volunteer coaches lead teams of 8-20 girls for a 10-week program that encourages personal development, team building, and connection to the community while training to complete a 5K run, which will be held in Florham Park on Nov. 17.
“The Girls on the Run lessons have helped me throughout my life. I remember being more confident after Girls on the Run," said Meghan Stein, a GOTR Florham Park participant. "I was so inspired to make a difference, especially after completing the community impact project. It made me the person I am now, caring and inspiring others, and it’s why I coach now. It shaped me into the person I am today.”
