Members of the confirmation class at Congregation B’nai Jeshurun in Short HIlls visited the Religious Action Center of the Union for Reform Judaism in December.

The trip to Washington, DC has become a traditional part of the 10th grade confirmation class curriculum at B’nai Jeshurun. Students from across the country gather for a weekend of learning, sight-seeing, issue familiarization. The weekend culminates in a meeting with legislative members and staff to lobby on the issues they have been studying.

Students visit the National Holocaust Museum, and spend time at the Smithsonian as well. This year the students visited the new memorial to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and held a Havdallah Service there to mark the end of Shabbat and the beginning of a new week.
