Temple Emanu-El Announces Purim Festivities

Temple Emanu-El of West Essex will begin its Purim celebration on Saturday, February 27 at 6:30 p.m. with a Disney-themed Purim shpiel that features a multi-generational chorus and Disney songs ranging from the Mickey Mouse Club through High School Musical. This original Purim spiel features clergy, staff and Temple members of all ages. It is open to the community, and attendees are encouraged to come in costume and join in the Temple's costume parade. Attendees are encouraged to bring a box of pasta to use as a grogger and then to donate to the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW). Following the Purim service and shpiel, there will be a Purim dinner/extravaganza featuring circus-type entertainment. Food will be very family friendly (hot dogs, burgers, etc.). The cost for the dinner is $18 per family and reservations can be made by calling the Temple office at 973.992.5560.

On Sunday, February 28 at 11 a.m., the Temple's youth group will hold a Purim Carnival. There will be carnival games, arts-and-crafts projects, and refreshments. The cost is $5 per child.
