The Arc of Essex County Announces Winners of 16th Annual Building Tomorrows 5K Race

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – A 28-year old New York City man was the overall winner of the 16th Annual Building Tomorrows 5K Run, while a 13 year-old girl from Waldwick NJ place first among female competitors.

Over 300 runners came out for the annual 5K run held at 10 am Saturday April 12 in Essex County’s Brookdale Park. The race and a simultaneous two-mile walk raised funds for The Arc of Essex County, the area’s largest provider of services and supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities including Autism and Down syndrome and their families. The Building Tomorrows 5K Run/2-Mile Walk is part of The Arc of New Jersey’s annual Step Up For The Arc statewide initiative of walkathons held locally by every county chapter.

Timothy Lynch of New York, NY was the winner with a time of 16:35.45, followed by Ted Mussano of Wayne, NJ with a time of 17:53.66 and Mohamed Abboub of Patterson, NJ with a time of 18:12.84.

The top female finisher, 15th overall, was 13-year-old Rhiannon Novelli of Waldwick, NJ with a time of 21:06.08. Aya Leitz of Jersey City, NJ placed second among women with a time of 21:11.17 and Nikki Drader of Nutley, NJ was third female finisher with a time of 22:15.41.
