The third floor of the Baird Center in South Orange is alive with the sound – well, of set building, kids performing, actors rehearsing their lines. The space is getting ready for its next act, the addition of interACT Theatre Productions as the theatre in residence in an already vibrant arts community.

“The Baird theatre is a versatile, intimate space which will allow us to further our mission of bringing theatre to the community, and the community to the theatre,” said Elena Svitavsky President of interACT Theatre Productions.

The theatre is in rehearsal for Plaza Suite, Neil Simon’s comedic take on marriage. Christine Gaden directs a phenomenal (and hilarious) cast. Performances are set for two weekends April 12-April 14 and April 19-April 21. Buy tickets by clicking here.

Rehearsing simultaneously is the musical The Full Monty about men stripped of their pride and livelihoods. Nicholas Clarey directs this popular piece of theatre with performances set for May 10-May 12 and May 17-May 19. Tickets go on sale shortly on interACT's website.

This summer, interACT will offer a weeklong summer camp for young actors under the direction of Lisa Hershey, on July 29-August 2. In this fun-filled drama camp, children will learn acting, playwriting and other fundamental theatre skills. Registration is at the Baird Center and online by clicking here.

interACT moved into its new home with its first youth production, the classic Charlotte’s Web. Featuring a large cast of local young talent, the play was performed to sold out audiences and directed by Shona Roebuck.

“We were overwhelmed by the community's support of live theatre,” Svitavsky said.

Paterson Firefighter Opens Up About Struggles, Urges Others not to Suffer in Silence

February 8, 2018

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - Not a week goes by when a tale of heroism and bravery on the part of firefighters is not told. For them, running into a burning building is as natural as running out of one is for the rest of us.

That became apparent again on Monday when members of the Paterson Fire Department responded to a fire at 268 Main Street, which led to the eventual total collapse of ...

Let the Games Begin

I am truly awed by the Olympics.  Watching these superb young athletes on TV inspires me to renew my membership to the gym and pursue my lifelong dream of taking home the gold.

The problem is that in my deluded head, I can see actually see myself standing atop the podium.  I am wrapped in a puffy designer ski coat with a huge piece of bling slung around my neck ...

In the Driver's Seat

Honey, I am going to take the Roadster out for a quick spin around the sun. I’ll be back in a few million years.

That’s nice dear. While you are out, could you pick up a gallon of milk?

In what has to be the greatest road trip of all time and space, Elon Musk, the visionary inventor, engineer, and billionaire investor loaded his very own red Tesla ...
