MONTCLAIR, NJ — Tickets are available for the third annual “Concert for Brendan” on Nov. 25, the day after Thanksgiving, at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair, featuring New Jersey favorite Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes with local duo "The Suyat Band" bringing their talent to the stage this year.

As it has in the past, the night will kickoff with a special tribute to Brendan Tevlin, a 19-year-old Livingston resident who was fatally shot on June 25, 2014 while sitting at a traffic light in West Orange, to the sound of area Pipe & Drum bands.

Born and raised in Livingston, Tevlin was extremely active in Livingston Youth Soccer and Lacrosse Clubs. He was a graduate of Seton Hall Prep and had just finished his freshman year at the University of Richmond in Virginia. Tevlin was also a bagpiper for the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh Band, a caddy at area golf courses, an avid surfer, a community-service advocate and a friend to many.

Friends of the Tevlin family, who coordinated the annual event as a way to gather during the holiday season and celebrate Brendan’s life and legacy with great music and good vibes, invite members of the public to schedule this event into their Thanksgiving weekend plans.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the Brendan Tevlin Memorial Fund, established for the redevelopment of an athletic field at Seton Hall Prep in his name as well as scholarship awards.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased HERE.

Let the Games Begin

I am truly awed by the Olympics.  Watching these superb young athletes on TV inspires me to renew my membership to the gym and pursue my lifelong dream of taking home the gold.

The problem is that in my deluded head, I can see actually see myself standing atop the podium.  I am wrapped in a puffy designer ski coat with a huge piece of bling slung around my neck ...
